The Area

The Cottage is ideally situated in the centre of the small village of Clyro, where the Victorian Curate and diarist, Francis Kilvert, lived. One of a pair of the oldest, prettiest cottages in the village, it is near the shop/P.O, Church, and local Pub.
Clyro is in an area renowned for its varied & outstanding countryside. Situated in the lovely Wye Valley, the area is dominated by the magnificent Black Mountains from where there are panoramic views over several counties. The Offa's Dyke Path runs right through the area.
The Garden at Clyro Cottage

Only 1'/2 mile away is the Marches town of Hay-on-Wye, famous as the world's largest sec- ond-hand and antiquarian book centre. Nestling on the English/Welsh border, it hosts its own Literary Festival every year.

The Cottage is an ideal base for exploring with, walking, pony trekking, canoeing, paragliding, caving, golf, fishing etc. and many historic buildings and gardens to visit within easy reach. Excellent nearby restaurants and pubs.
